How Mooch Is Embracing the Next Evolution in Creative Storytelling

The world of filmmaking is changing and it’s changing fast. In a groundbreaking move, Google has introduced Flow, a cutting-edge AI filmmaking tool that has the potential to completely reimagine the way stories are created, directed, and delivered. At Mooch, we’re already exploring how Flow could become part of our creative future, powering visual storytelling with even more agility, imagination, and impact.

What Is Google Flow?

Unveiled at Google I/O 2025, Flow is Google DeepMind’s AI-driven video production assistant. Think of it as a virtual filmmaker, a tool that can take a simple text prompt or idea and turn it into a compelling short film, complete with visuals, camera movements, editing cuts, and even emotional tone.

Powered by Gemini, Google’s multimodal AI model, Flow understands narrative structure, genre conventions, and cinematic language. You can feed it a brief (“a nostalgic 90s-style sports ad with a hopeful ending”), and it generates a visualised short with dynamic camera angles, animated characters, environments, sound design, and more.

It’s not just animation or stock footage, it’s an end-to-end AI film engine that can mimic and reinterpret cinematic grammar.

Why It Matters to Mooch

At Mooch, storytelling sits at the heart of everything we do. Whether we’re launching a brand, building a campaign, or producing social assets, we tell stories that make people feel something.

With Flow, we see the opportunity to supercharge that mission in several ways:

  1. Concept Development at Lightning Speed

Pitching a new brand film or campaign? With Flow, we can rapidly prototype mood films, explore tones, test narrative beats, and visualise ideas before a single frame is filmed. It’s like a storyboard on steroids, perfect for early-stage client buy-in.

  2. Creating Content That Scales

Not every project has a six-figure budget or weeks of production time. Flow allows us to produce high-impact, AI-generated sequences for social, internal comms, or explainer-style assets that still carry brand emotion and creativity, without compromise.

  3. Democratising Filmmaking Within the Studio

Flow breaks down technical barriers. Designers, copywriters, and strategists can play with video ideas using natural language, opening up a collaborative, iterative approach to visual storytelling across the agency.

  4. Blending AI and Human Creativity

We don’t see Flow replacing filmmakers. We see it empowering them. At Mooch, we’re exploring how AI tools like Flow can become part of a hybrid workflow, where human insight, emotion, and craft guide the process, and AI helps fill in the blanks, iterate faster, and enhance production value.

What’s Next?

While Flow is still in limited access, we’re already experimenting with what’s possible, prototyping mood pieces, testing creative prompts, and planning how we might integrate Flow into our pitch process, motion team, and campaign workflows.

We're also keeping a close eye on:

  • Ethical considerations (deepfake prevention, usage rights, attribution)

  • Brand safety controls (ensuring visuals are always on-tone and on-brief)

  • Integration with our motion and video workflows

This is more than a new tool, it’s a new creative playground. And we’re ready to play.
